Join the ATDC Board of Governance

The Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs Council Tasmania (ATDC) is seeking expressions of interest from values-aligned people interested in joining our Board of Governance.

ATDC is Tasmania’s peak body representing and championing community organisations and people with lived and living experience.

We are the peak body representing and championing community organisations and people with lived and living experience, we exist to eliminate stigma and to reduce alcohol, tobacco and other drug related harm.

About the Board

The primary responsibility of the Board is to provide governance, strategic direction and performance management of the Council. It does so through both compliance and performance monitoring and review of processes.

Who we are looking for

To complement the capabilities and perspectives of our existing Board, we welcome expressions of interest from people with experience or knowledge in law/legal and IT/cyber security. We also welcome skills in governance, leadership, finance, advocacy, government liaison, communications,



ethical decision making, workplace culture.

Board experience

Previous Board experience is a strength but is not essential.

We encourage emerging leaders and people seeking their first Board appointment to apply. New Directors will receive an appropriate induction, support and opportunities for career development.

Critically, it is your ability to act with integrity, exercise sound judgement, work constructively with others and contribute to ATDC’s purpose that we are seeking.

The ATDC welcomes applications from the Tasmanian Aboriginal community, people from culturally diverse communities, people from the LGBTQIA+ community, and also from those with a living/lived experience of alcohol and other drug use.

Commitment

Elected Directors are appointed to two-year terms. Each position is voluntary, and there is no remuneration, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, generally last for two hours, and can optionally be accessed remotely.
