To support the delivery of a high-quality early childhood education and care program within The Scots College Early Years Centre, Rose Bay. Working collaboratively with the Early Childhood Teacher, Educational Leader and wider EYC team, the Assistant Educator contributes to a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment that supports each boy’s wellbeing, development, learning and sense of belonging.

The role supports the implementation of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the National Quality Standard (NQS), College policies and procedures and the values and educational philosophy of The Scots College.

Key Accountabilities:

- Quality Education and Care: Contribute to high-quality educational experiences and responsive care that support the learning, development, wellbeing and individual needs of each child.
- Curriculum and Pedagogy: Work collaboratively with the Early Childhood Teacher and educational team to implement,



document and reflect upon play-based learning experiences aligned with the EYLF, the Centre’s educational program aligning with their philosophy as Reggio Emilia.
- Child Safety and Wellbeing: Maintain a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment through active supervision, responsive interactions and consistent implementation of child-safe practices, regulatory requirements and College policies.
- Relationships and Belonging: Build respectful, positive and responsive relationships with children that promote confidence, independence, emotional security and a strong sense of belonging.
- Family and Community Partnerships: Contribute to positive and professional relationships with families, communicating appropriately about children’s experiences and working collaboratively with colleagues to support continuity between home and the Service.
- Professional Collaboration and Practice: Contribute positively to the EYC team through effective communication, professional conduct, reflective practice and active participation in Centre routines, meetings, professional learning and continuous improvement.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with young children, families and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively under the direction of an Early Childhood Teacher and as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.
- Demonstrated ability to actively supervise and support young children within a busy early childhood environment.
- Ability to contribute to observations, documentation and implementation of educational experiences.
- Solid organisational skills and the ability to respond flexibly to the changing needs of children and the Centre.
- Sound written communication and basic digital literacy skills relevant to early childhood documentation and College systems.

Knowledge

- Sound knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)



and its application within an early childhood setting.
- Understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and National Quality Standard (NQS).
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practice for children in the early years.
- Understanding of child protection, child-safe practices, active supervision, duty of care and professional boundaries.
- Understanding of inclusive education and strategies that support children’s individual learning, developmental and wellbeing needs.
- Knowledge of appropriate health, hygiene, safety and risk-management practices within an early childhood education and care service.

Essential Requirements

- Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, or an ACECQA-approved equivalent qualification.
- Current NSW Working with Children Check.
- Current approved First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training, or willingness to obtain and maintain these as required.
- Current child protection training applicable to early childhood education and care.
- Completed Geccko mandatory training
- Demonstrated experience working with children in an early childhood education and care environment is desirable.
- Ability to meet all regulatory, College and child-safety requirements associated with employment in an early childhood setting.

The scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands and involvement in additional projects as required is also an expectation.
