Local Laws Officer

Position No. 202

Full-time

Band 5 – $77,357 – $88,159 yearly, plus 12% statutory superannuation

The Local Laws Officer is responsible for managing domesticanimal controls, ensuring traffic and parking compliance, supporting emergencyservices, and assisting with fire prevention strategies. The role also respondsto community concerns, issues permits, and provides advice on Local Laws.

Key responsibilities:

- Enforcelocal laws, traffic regulations, and state legislation.
- Manage domestic animals andlivestock, including responding to complaints and emergencies.
- Prepare compliance reports,investigation briefs, and court documents.
- Participate in emergencymanagement and fire prevention activities.

About you:

The successful applicant will demonstrate strong judgement, resilience, and theability to engage professionally with the community.

- Knowledge of local laws,traffic regulations, and animal management legislation.
- Experience investigatingcompliance matters and preparing court briefs (training will be providedif required).
- Certificate IV in AnimalManagement (preferred) or relevant experience.
- Physical fitness and theability to work with animals and livestock.
- Current Victorian Driver’sLicence and Working with Children Check.
- Availability to work afterhours as required.

Training will be provided in relevant legislation,



compliance processes, andthe preparation of court briefing documents.
