Gowling Stairs Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Staircase Installer to join our team on a full-time basis. Based in Vermont VIC, this role is central to delivering high-quality staircase installations for our clients across residential and commercial projects. As a Staircase Installer, you will be responsible for the precise installation, assembly and finishing of staircases in accordance with design specifications and safety standards. This position plays a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining Gowling Stairs' reputation for excellence in the building and construction industry.
Key responsibilities
- Install and assemble staircases on site, including wooden, metal and composite materials, following technical drawings and specifications
- Measure, cut and prepare staircase components with precision to ensure accurate fit and alignment
- Secure and fasten staircase elements safely using appropriate fixings, adhesives and installation techniques
- Apply finishing touches including sanding to staircases as required
- Inspect completed installations to ensure they meet quality standards, design specifications and building codes
- Liaise with site managers and customers to ensure installations proceed smoothly and professionally
- Maintain a clean and secure work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations on site
- Transport materials and equipment to job sites
- Troubleshoot installation issues and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal results
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and report any maintenance needs
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Staircase Installer or similar carpentry installation role, ideally 3+ years in the industry
- Strong knowledge of staircase design, construction methods and installation techniques for various materials
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints and specifications
- Excellent measuring, cutting and precision skills with attention to detail
- Competence in using hand tools, power tools and installation equipment safely and effectively
- Sound understanding of building codes, safety standards and compliance requirements relevant to staircase installation
- Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Reliability, strong work ethic and ability to manage time effectively on multiple projects
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members and clients
- Current driver's licence and own reliable transport for travelling to job sites
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in carpentry or construction (preferred)
