Australia has an impressive track record of responding to HIV. This response has been underpinned by a partnership model spanning community, clinical and research partners, and government. Central to this model is the leadership roleof community-controlledHIV organisations. Health Equity Matters and our member organisations have delivered this leadership role across four decades.

Since the early 1990s, we have implemented over AUD60 million in HIV programming in 22 Indo-Pacific countries.

Acrossthis region, we draw on our strengths toenablecommunityleadershipon HIV, health and human rights.Thisworkis delivered in partnership with locally ledkey-populationorganisations.Our approach is to work withtheseorganisationsandourcommunitieswhere there is an identified need for our expertise and an authorising environment.

About this Role

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Grants Finance Officer (International)



to support the financial and grants management functions of Health Equity Matters’ international programs. This role ensures effective financial oversight, partner compliance, and adherence to donor requirements, enabling program teams to use funds efficiently and in line with partner agreements.

By strengthening partner financial capacity and supporting strong compliance practices, the Grants Finance Officer plays a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality programs and improving health outcomes globally.

Key Responsibilities

The Grants Finance Officer will be responsible for:

- Support partner compliance through financial reviews, capacity assessments, and monitoring activities
- Assist with the preparation and monitoring of grant budgets in line with donor and organisational requirements
- Review partner financial reports and supporting documentation, identifying risks or discrepancies
- Support timely and accurate donor financial reporting
- Monitor partner funding disbursements, acquittals, and reconciliations
- Review payment requests, expense claims, and invoices for accuracy and compliance
- Contribute to partner agreements, due diligence processes, and ongoing performance monitoring
- Assist with external audits and donor verification processes
- Maintain accurate financial records and support continuous improvement of finance processes

Selection Criteria

- Minimum of 3 experience in grant finance and budgeting, ideally within NGOs or international/multilateral organisations
- Experience supporting grant allocation and management within international or humanitarian programs
- Understanding of donor requirements,



financial compliance, and reporting (or robust ability to quickly build this knowledge)
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management skills
- Advanced Excel and financial systems capability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working remotely and collaborating across multiple time zones
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills in fast-paced environments
- Ability to prioritise, take initiative, and manage competing demands independently
- Alignment with Health Equity Matters’ values and a commitment to working with the communities we serve

Highly Desirable

- Willingness to undertake occasional domestic and international travel
- Hold a current and valid passport
- Ability and willingness to undertake limited domestic and international travel as required.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment checks
