I’m recruiting an experienced Environmental Consultant / Fieldwork Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day site delivery of a large, complex soil and hazardous materials remediation project.

This is very much a hands-on site role. You'll be coordinating environmental and HazMat teams, managing sampling programs, dealing directly with contractors and stakeholders, solving problems as they arise and making sure the project keeps moving.

If you've built a solid technical background in contaminated land consulting and are ready to take greater ownership of field delivery, this could be a great next move.

The role

You'll be the key environmental presence on site, working closely with the Project Manager and Project Director while taking responsibility for the day-to-day field program.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Leading and coordinating environmental and HazMat field teams
- Managing soil and hazardous materials sampling programs
- Getting on the tools and undertaking sampling yourself when required
- Coordinating multiple teams and contractors across a busy remediation site
- Acting as a key point of contact for the client, principal contractor, regulators and other stakeholders
- Keeping field activities organised, efficient and on schedule
- Working with senior project staff to meet project deadlines and quality requirements




- Troubleshooting the inevitable issues that come up on a large, live remediation project

The position is genuinely at the centre of site delivery, with responsibility for bringing together the different field teams and project stakeholders.

What I'm looking for

You'll ideally have:

- 4+ years' experience in environmental consulting
- Strong contaminated land / soil remediation experience
- Practical experience with soil and water sampling
- Confidence running and coordinating field programs
- Experience dealing directly with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- The ability to think on your feet and solve problems in live site conditions

HazMat experience would be highly regarded, as would previous experience working on demolition or large contaminated-land remediation projects.

A role for someone who likes being on site

This isn't a conventional Monday-to-Friday consulting role where most of your week is spent writing reports.

It's a demanding, site-focused position on a major project, with longer site hours and Saturday work forming part of the program. Importantly, additional hours beyond ordinary hours are recognised through overtime pay or time off in lieu, with fatigue and rest managed under company policy.

For someone who enjoys fieldwork, leading people and being involved in the action, it's an chance to gain substantial experience on a significant remediation project.
