A large, global consumer and trade distribution business is seeking a Commercial Analyst to join its high-performing finance team. Operating across an extensive store and customer network in Australia and New Zealand, the business is a recognised market leader. Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager, this role will play a key part in supporting commercial performance across a national network. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across sales, operations and finance to deliver insight-led analysis, support promotional initiatives and drive improved financial outcomes.

The Challenge

n

As Commercial Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

n

n
- Delivering detailed analysis across sales, margins and operating costs, providing clear insights and recommendations to support performance improvement
n
- Supporting commercial finance activities including P&L; analysis, variance commentary and identifying key trends across the business
n
- Managing customer rebate programs, including calculations, reporting, reconciliations and close engagement with sales teams
n
- Preparing and enhancing commercial reporting packs, including KPI reporting, sales performance and capex tracking
n
- Partnering with stakeholders across sales and operations to support promotional activity and growth initiatives
n
- Supporting the preparation of business cases and providing financial input into key commercial decisions
n




- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and planning processes, contributing to improved forward-looking visibility
n
- Supporting month-end processes including management reporting and financial analysis
n

The Expertise

n

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following:

n

n
- 2–5 years' experience within accounting
n
- Big 4 or Mid-tier chartered accounting experience is highly desirable, particularly for candidates looking to make their first move into industry that have exposure to large and complex clients
n
- Advanced Excel skills, with exposure to Power BI or similar reporting tools advantageous
n
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across finance, sales and operations
n
- Robust analytical capability with ability to interpret data, identify trends and provide meaningful recommendations beyond the numbers
n
- High attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
n
- Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or Commerce, with CA or CPA qualification (or working towards)
