About the Role:

Join the Women’s and Children’s Division at North Canberra Hospital and play a key role in delivering exceptional care to women, newborns and their families across the ACT. The Division provides a comprehensive range of maternity, neonatal, gynaecology and surgical services, including antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, gynaecological services, neonatal special care nursery support, domiciliary care and post-operative recovery.

Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team of midwives, nurses, medical staff and allied health professionals, the Level 2 Midwife provides advanced clinical care within the Maternity and Women’s Health Unit. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated midwife to combine expert clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, supporting the delivery of protected, high-quality and woman-centred care. The role includes undertaking team leader responsibilities and deputising for the Clinical Midwife Consultant after hours.

As a senior member of the team, you will foster a supportive learning environment by mentoring and guiding less experienced colleagues.



You will act as a clinical education resource, contribute to the development of Performance Development Plans for Level 1 Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives, and support team members to achieve their individual learning and professional development goals.

This role also offers the opportunity to further develop your own leadership and professional capabilities. You will take responsibility for your ongoing professional development and complete the training and education required to fulfil team leader responsibilities, ensuring you continue to grow and thrive in your midwifery career.
