This initial contact is a crucial part of the help-seeking process, and our intake team understands the significance of this moment. The intake team is the lifeblood of our organisation, setting the tone for every client's experience with our service.
Your primary responsibility will be speaking with people from a broad range of backgrounds and circumstances who are seeking mental health support. You'll recommend a suitable therapeutic fit and empower clients to book an initial appointment with a quality assured therapist from our network of private practices. As an intake consultant, a meaningful impact looks like:
- Building trust quickly with clients over the phone and via email
- Simplifying complex information to make the process clear and achievable
- Tailoring your approach and recommendations so each client feels confident making the best decision for their individual needs
- Applying problem-solving skills and directive communication to navigate personal and practical barriers that might prevent clients from accessing therapeutic support
- Using warm, energetic and engaging communication to motivate clients to take action
- Identifying efficiencies and optimising your workflow to support as many people as possible while maintaining a high standard of care
- Completing administrative tasks accurately and efficiently to ensure the experience of attending a first counselling appointment is as seamless as possible
Are you the right fit? (Key Selection Criteria)
Our intake call centre office is based in Balwyn, Melbourne and this is an office-based only role.
The intake team work across a flexible 7-day rotating roster. All team members are required to be available to work evening shifts (until 8:00pm) and weekend shifts (9:00am–5:30pm), sharing these shifts across the team. We are looking for team members who can work at least 2 shifts a week.
As a successful Intake Consultant, you:
- Are a confident, energetic communicator who builds trust, overcomes barriers and motivates clients to take the next step towards accessing support
- Are driven by excellence, with a track record of meeting and exceeding performance standards
- Thrive working autonomously in a fast-paced, highly principled and growth-oriented team
- Think on your feet and confidently troubleshoot problems
- Embrace receiving, giving and acting on constructive feedback to continually improve, both personally and as part of a team
- Have high emotional intelligence, with the ability to care for clients while managing your own energy, mindset and wellbeing
- Are confident using digital tools,
CRMs and software in a fast-paced environment
- Are highly organised, with strong multitasking skills and attention to detail when managing competing demands in a high-volume environment
No qualifications in the field of mental health are necessary, as we do not conduct clinical intake interviews or provide any therapeutic intervention. Success in the role requires the highest standards of client care, emotional intelligence and communication expertise. We are passionate about cutting through the confusion of navigating the mental health industry, so we are looking for sharp, clear, energetic and engaging communicators who care about making an impact to join our team! All other training is provided in the role.
