Coonamble Feedlot is seeking a practical, reliable Livestock Hand.

n

The Livestock Hand plays an important role within the livestock management team, supporting the day-to-day care, handling and welfare of cattle.

n

Based in Coonamble, New South Wales, this permanent full-time position offers hands-on experience in livestock operations, animal health, safe work practices and general site duties.

n

It is well suited to someone looking to build practical skills and develop a long-term career in the livestock industry.

Feedlot

n

The feedlot is approximately 10 minutes from Coonamble, and about 1.5 hours from Dubbo.

n

The feedlot capacity is 20,000 head which is surrounded by 58,000 acres of backgrounding and dryland cropping property.

n

Monitor livestock daily to support animal health, welfare and early identification of issues.

n

Observe cattle for signs of illness, injury, lameness, abnormal behaviour or changes in condition.

n

Report livestock health, welfare, feed, water, pen or facility concerns to the relevant supervisor.

n

Assist with the safe handling, movement and drafting of livestock as required.

n

Support animal health activities, treatments and calving‐related observations under the direction of experienced staff.

n





Maintain accurate records of livestock observations, treatments, movements and other relevant information.

n

Follow biosecurity, animal welfare and workplace health and safety procedures at all times.

n

No formal education required; however, a background in agriculture or animal husbandry is advantageous.

n

- Horses are preferred, but applicants without horse experience will be considered if they have proven cattle handling experience.
n

n

Entry‐level position; previous experience with livestock is preferred but not essential.

n

Basic understanding of animal care and welfare practices.

n

Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.

n

Robust communication skills and a willingness to learn.

n

Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks in various weather conditions.

n
