About the role

n

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Personal Care Worker - Arabic speaking to join our team at Ashcare in Thornbury, Victoria. This is a casual position that offers flexibility and the prospect to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients. As a Personal Care Worker, you will provide essential support to aged and disability clients, with your Arabic language skills being invaluable in delivering culturally sensitive and responsive care to our Arabic-speaking clients.

Key responsibilities

n

Provide personal care support including assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting

n

Deliver culturally appropriate care with sensitivity to clients' cultural backgrounds and preferences

n

Communicate effectively with Arabic-speaking clients in their preferred language, ensuring clear understanding of their needs and wishes

n

Assist with meal preparation and feeding where required

n

Support clients with mobility and transfers, utilising appropriate techniques and equipment

n

Maintain accurate records and documentation of care provided and any concerns or observations

n

Promote clients' independence, dignity and wellbeing in all interactions

n





Work collaboratively with other care staff and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and quality care

n

Maintain a safe, clean and hygienic environment for clients

n

Respond promptly and compassionately to clients' requests and concerns

n

What we're looking for

n

Fluency in Arabic language (spoken and ideally written) to communicate effectively with clients

n

Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain this

n

Working With Children Check (WWCC) and Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) clearance, or eligibility to obtain these

n

Demonstrated experience in personal care work, aged care or disability support services

n

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients

n

Physical capability to perform care duties including assisting with mobility and transfers

n

Commitment to person-centred care principles and respect for client dignity and independence

n

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

n

Reliability, punctuality and a professional approach to work

n

Understanding of aged care and disability support standards and regulations is advantageous

n
