Graduate Lawyer - Commercial Litigation and Insolvency

Polczynski Robinson is looking for a dynamic law graduate (also considering final year law student) to join our leading corporate and commercial specialist firm. The ideal candidate will be interested in a career in commercial litigation, with a particular focus on insolvency law. This is a outstanding opportunity to be mentored by some of the best legal minds and have a hands-on role from the start, working with professionals, SMEs and large corporates.

Key responsibilities

n

Assisting with the conduct of commercial litigation and insolvency matters from commencement through to resolution

n

Drafting correspondence, court documents, briefs to counsel and file notes under supervision

n

Undertaking legal research and preparing research memoranda on technical issues

n

Attending court, mediations and client meetings with senior practitioners

n

Managing document review, discovery and evidence preparation

n

Liaising with clients, counsel, courts and external stakeholders

n

Maintaining accurate file, billing and matter management records

n

About you

n

Completion of, or imminent completion of, a law degree (LLB or JD) and Practical Legal Training

n

Admission to practice, or eligibility for admission, in Victoria

n

A strong academic record

n

A demonstrated interest in commercial litigation,



restructuring and insolvency

n

Robust written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail in drafting

n

Sound organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

n

A proactive approach, commercial awareness and a willingness to take ownership of tasks

n

Confidence dealing with clients and senior stakeholders in a professional manner

n

Competence with legal technology and practice management systems

n

Prior clerkship, paralegal or legal support experience in a litigation or insolvency practice will be highly regarded but is not essential
