n
Join the Mildura Base Public Hospital Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (AMHWS) as an Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) Clinician. In this rewarding role, you'll provide specialist assessment, treatment and support for people experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges.
n
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you'll deliver evidence-based, person-centred care across hospital, community and specialist AOD settings. You'll also contribute to The Local, a partnership providing free, accessible mental health and wellbeing support for people aged 26+, alongside Wellways, Sunraysia Community Health Services and Mallee District Aboriginal Corporation.

About the Role
n
As an AOD Clinician, you will:
n
n
- Deliver comprehensive clinical assessments and treatment interventions for consumers with substance use disorders.
n
- Work within a multidisciplinary shared-care model to support individuals with co-occurring mental health and AOD concerns.
n
- Provide coordinated care across hospital, community and specialist AOD services within The Local.
n
- Apply contemporary evidence-based approaches to treatment, recovery and relapse prevention.
n
- Collaborate closely with consumers, carers,
families and external service providers to achieve positive outcomes.
n
- Participate in flexible service delivery models, including outreach and home-based support when required.
n
n
This role may involve working extended hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet service needs.
n
The position is classified as either a Registered Nurse Grade 3 or Allied Health Grade 3 under the Victorian Public Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement, or a Psychologist Grade 3 under the Medical Scientists, Pharmacists and Psychologists Victorian Public Sector Enterprise Agreement. Classification will be determined based on the successful applicant's qualifications, registration and relevant experience.

About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
Essential:
n
n
- Clinical experience working with consumers with substance use disorders.
n
- Understanding of evidence-based interventions for substance use disorders and experience in their implementation.
n
- Knowledge of harm reduction principles, trauma-informed care, and recovery-oriented approaches.
n
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
n
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport.
n
- Capacity to collaborate with all stakeholders to achieve effectiveness and efficiency of services.
n
- Knowledge of quality improvement Australian Standards.
n
- Ability to collect data and prepare reports and recommendations.
n
- Sound computer skills.
n
n
Desirable:
n
n
- A post graduate qualification in Drug and Alcohol nursing or a willingness to complete.
n
n
