Set Out Draftsperson - Microvellum | Path to Set Out Manager

Mentes Joinery is a commercial joinery business in Coburg North. We deliver offices, schools and universities, small institutional projects and hospitality fitouts, and we've built a reputation for getting the difficult ones right.

We're looking for a Set Out Draftsperson to join us in-house. This is deliberately not a remote role, and there's a reason for that.

Why in-house

n

Over the next twelve months we're doing two things that can't be done properly over a screen share. We're building a proper set of company drafting standards, and we're moving from Microvellum across to Innergy Design. Both need someone who can walk out onto the factory floor, talk to the machinists and installers about what actually works, and sit down with the project managers and estimators without booking a meeting.

Everything is under one roof here. Factory, estimating, project management, set out. You'll be in the middle of it.

What you'll be doing

n

Interpreting architectural drawings and producing detailed shop drawings in Microvellum for client approval, production and installation

n

Producing accurate listings and BOMs

n

Running three to four projects at a time alongside our project managers

n





Working with production and installation to develop and document company drafting standards

n

Playing a key part in our transition to Innergy Design

Where it can go

n

We're building this role with a Set Out Manager seat at the end of it. For the right person, that means owning the standards, leading the platform migration, and taking responsibility for our set out team including training existing and current staff.

If you're not ready for that yet, that's fine. Come in, do the drafting work well, and grow into it. We'd rather hire the right person at the right level than force a title on someone.

What we're after

n

Strong Microvellum experience

n

AutoCAD

n

Solid understanding of commercial fitout and architectural joinery

n

Genuine attention to detail, because the listings have to be right

n

Able to carry several jobs at once and hit dates

n

Trade background is a plus but not essential if your drafting is strong.

What we're offering

n

$100,000 - 130,000 + super, depending on experience. The upper end of that range is for someone ready to take on team leadership and the standards work.

Daily support and training on Microvellum, and full training on Innergy Design as we move across. Onsite parking. Start date is flexible, we're looking at four to six weeks.
