About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Asset & Capital Accountant to join a large Queensland Government organisation on a contract commencing 12 October 2026 through to 26 February 2027.

n

Working within a specialist Capital Maintenance and Asset Accounting team, you will provide high-level financial analysis, advice and reporting across capital projects, asset accounting and budget management.

n

This role will suit an experienced accountant who is confident working with complex capital and asset matters and engaging with senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and analyse monthly capital project reports, reconciliations, briefing notes and presentations
n
- Provide insights and recommendations on complex asset, capital management and budget matters
n
- Contribute to the development and review of capital management policies and procedures
n
- Provide technical advice regarding Capital Work-in-Progress, asset acquisitions and asset accounting policies
n
- Ensure annual capital budgets and budget revisions are accurately reflected across relevant Treasury and internal reporting systems
n




- Develop effective internal controls across capital processing and asset accounting
n
- Build collaborative relationships with senior management, Queensland Treasury, auditors and external service providers
n
- Communicate complex capital and asset financial information clearly to internal and external stakeholders

About You

n

You will bring solid experience in capital accounting, asset accounting and financial reporting, with sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and financial management requirements.

n

A relevant accounting degree and professional membership with CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand or IPA would be highly desirable, although formal accounting qualifications are not mandatory.

Rate: $79.19 per hour + 12% Super
