Job Description

As a Theatre Technician, you work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team in the provision of patient focused holistic health care in order to deliver a quality service and ensure positive patient outcomes achieve desired clinical outcomes. Grade 3

Grade 3

- Provide safe, high-quality theatre support within the scope of practice of a Theatre Technician.
- Ensure patients are safely prepared, positioned and transferred, while maintaining a clean, safe and well-prepared theatre environment.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, communicating respectfully and contributing to an efficient daily workload.
- Maintain equipment, report incidents and hazards appropriately, and participate in mandatory training, professional development and quality improvement activities.

Grade 4

- Provide high-quality theatre support within scope of practice, ensuring patients are safely prepared, positioned and transferred for procedures.
- Maintain a secure, clean and well-prepared theatre environment, including ensuring equipment is operational and reporting incidents, hazards and risks appropriately.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and the multidisciplinary team, demonstrating strong communication, teamwork and professional behaviour while supporting an efficient daily workload.
- Maintain professional knowledge and skills through mandatory and role‑specific training, adherence to relevant standards and policies, and active participation in quality improvement activities.

Grade 5

- Provide high-quality theatre support within scope of practice, coordinating daily workloads and liaising with colleagues to ensure safe, efficient and timely patient care.




- Promote a high standard of safe practice and theatre operations, including patient preparation and transfers, equipment readiness, infection prevention, risk management and reporting of incidents and hazards.
- Provide leadership and support to other Theatre Technicians by modelling professional behaviour, effective communication and teamwork, and assisting with the training and development of colleagues.
- Contribute to service improvement through participation in quality improvement activities, special projects and reporting, while maintaining compliance with relevant standards, Barwon Health policies, mandatory training and OHS requirements.

About The Candidate

Grade 3

- Minimum 24 months' experience working as a Theatre Technician.
- Holds a Certificate 4 Health Services Assistance (Operating Theatre Support)
- Demonstrated good communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to participate in on-the-job training and skills development.
- Basic computer skills and availability to work shifts required to support a 24-hour, 7-day service.

Grade 4

- Minimum 36 months' experience working as a Theatre Technician.




- Holds a Certificate 4 Health Services Assistance (Operating Theatre Support)
- Demonstrated strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to participate in on-the-job training and ongoing skills development.
- Basic computer skills and availability to work shifts required to support a 24-hour, 7-day service.

Grade 5

- Minimum 48 months' experience working as a Theatre Technician, including at least 12 months' experience at Grade 4 level.
- Holds a Certificate 4 Health Services Assistance (Operating Theatre Support)
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge and experience across all areas of the operating suite and relevant Theatre Technician clinical specialties.
- Demonstrated exceptional communication, organisational and conflict‑resolution skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated leadership, flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to support colleagues, embrace change and contribute to a 24-hour, 7-day service.
