Thornlands Doctors is looking for an experienced Medical Receptionist to join our friendly and supportive team.

About The Role

This is a busy and varied reception role where no two days are quite the same.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, is confident in a fast-paced environment and can juggle multiple tasks while keeping priorities on track.

You will be one of the friendly faces our patients see when they arrive, so providing exceptional customer service is extremely important to us.

You will be responsible for a range of reception and administrative duties, including:

- Welcoming patients and providing friendly, professional service
- Answering phones and responding to patient enquiries
- Managing appointments and assisting patients with their needs
- Processing Medicare, private billing, WorkCover and other accounts
- Processing payments accurately
- Managing patient records, scanning, faxing and correspondence
- Completing recalls and general administrative tasks
- Communicating with doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, pharmacies, hospitals and other healthcare providers
- Checking and actioning emails and internal messages
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and welcoming reception and waiting area
- Opening and closing the practice according to our procedures
- Supporting the wider team with the day-to-day running of the practice

The Person We Are Looking For





We are looking for someone who is more than just a receptionist. We want someone who takes pride in what they do, enjoys helping people and is willing to be part of a team.

You Will Ideally Be Someone Who

- Has previous experience as a Receptionist
- Has experience using Best Practice medical software (not essential)
- Has exceptional customer service skills and genuinely enjoys helping patients
- Can multitask and confidently manage competing priorities
- Is organised and able to prioritise deadlines and tasks
- Can remain calm, friendly and professional when the practice gets busy
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Is a confident and clear communicator
- Has strong problem-solving skills and can use initiative
- Works well as part of a team and is happy to support others when needed
- Is reliable, professional and takes pride in their work
- Understands the importance of patient confidentiality
- Has a positive attitude and a friendly personality

- Current Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid/CPR certificate
- Immunisation record
