APG Workforce is seeking an experienced Senior Data Governance Officer to join the NSW Telco Authority on a long-term contract based in Sydney CBD.

Working within the Enterprise Architecture, Data & Innovation team , you will support a significant Data Governance and Information Management uplift program. The role will focus on strengthening enterprise information governance, improving visibility and management of information assets, establishing metadata and stewardship frameworks, and supporting compliance with NSW Government information management, privacy, classification and security obligations.

About the Role
As the Senior Data Governance Officer, you will provide specialist advice and practical support to improve information and data management practices across the organisation.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, Data Owners, Data Custodians and Data Stewards to strengthen governance maturity, improve information asset management and embed effective governance practices across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the uplift, maintenance and governance of the Enterprise Information Asset Register and Critical Data Asset Register.
- Support the implementation and operationalisation of the Enterprise Metadata Catalogue, including onboarding, metadata governance and business adoption.
- Establish and maintain metadata standards,



business glossaries and information asset management practices.
- Facilitate the identification, classification and stewardship of information assets in accordance with NSW Government requirements.
- Develop governance policies, standards, procedures, guidance materials and operating models.
- Maintain and enhance information and data governance frameworks, policies and standards.
- Coordinate governance assurance activities including attestations, compliance reporting, maturity assessments and audit support.
- Support information-sharing governance, including data requests, governance controls and data-sharing agreements.
- Deliver stakeholder engagement, governance awareness, data literacy and capability uplift initiatives.
- Support Data Governance Council activities, reporting, issue management and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with privacy, records management, cyber security and business stakeholders to ensure information governance obligations are met.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in data governance and information management , ideally within a complex government or large enterprise environment.
You will bring:





- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining Information Asset Registers, metadata repositories and enterprise data catalogues .
- Experience implementing information and data governance frameworks, policies, standards and operational processes.
- Experience defining metadata standards, business glossaries and stewardship models.
- Experience implementing or supporting Metadata NSW, Microsoft Purview or similar enterprise metadata catalogue platforms .
- Knowledge of NSW Government Information Classification requirements, the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), privacy and information management obligations .
- Experience establishing and supporting Data Owner, Data Custodian and Data Steward accountability models .
- Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, including the ability to resolve ownership ambiguity and drive governance adoption.
- Strong communication skills with experience delivering governance awareness, data literacy and organisational capability uplift initiatives.
- Experience working collaboratively with information management, records, privacy and cyber security stakeholders.
- Sound knowledge and practical experience in data governance, information management or a related discipline.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance .
