About the role

n

Life Without Barriers is looking for an experienced Manager Rostering to lead our rostering function within Child, Youth & Family Services.

n

This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring our rostering systems, processes and practices support an effective, sustainable and responsive workforce. You will lead a team of rostering professionals, while partnering closely with operational leaders and teams to optimise workforce coverage, improve rostering capability and maintain continuity of support for children and young people.

n

You'll bring strong rostering expertise, sound knowledge of industrial requirements and a practical, solutions-focused approach. While this is a leadership role, you'll also be comfortable getting hands-on when required to resolve complex rostering issues and ensure service continuity.

Key responsibilities

n

- Lead, coach and develop a team of rostering professionals, building capability, consistency and high performance.
n
- Oversee rostering operations to deliver cost-effective, compliant and sustainable rosters within agreed KPIs and workforce requirements.
n
- Provide expert rostering advice to operational leaders and teams,



including workforce planning, roster optimisation and compliance.
n
- Monitor and improve rostering systems, processes and practices, driving efficiency, standardisation and continuous improvement.
n
- Manage and triage rostering issues, including unplanned changes, and work collaboratively with operations to minimise disruption to service delivery.
n
- Promote culturally safe rostering practices and represent rostering in operational forums and broader organisational initiatives, supporting positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.

About you

n

You're an experienced rostering or workforce professional who enjoys balancing people leadership with operational problem-solving. You understand that effective rostering is about more than filling shifts — it's about creating sustainable workforce solutions that support quality services and positive outcomes for children and young people.

n

You will bring:

n

n
- A Diploma-level qualification in administration, business studies or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated skills and experience.
n
- Demonstrated experience in rostering, workforce planning, coordination or a similar leadership role, including experience leading, coaching or coordinating a team.
n
- Robust knowledge of rostering principles, roster optimisation, industrial instruments, health and safety and workforce requirements, with experience using rostering systems.
n
- Strong problem-solving, organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands and deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
n
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to provide clear, practical advice and work collaboratively across operations and corporate teams.
n
- Strong attention to detail and written and digital literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
n
- Working knowledge of UKG Pro and SCHADS award highly regarded.
