About the Role
Our client is an established consumer goods business seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to provide practical and commercially focused legal support across its operations.
This is a broad, business-facing position covering commercial contracts, negotiations, employment matters, disputes, intellectual property, insurance and regulatory compliance. You will partner with stakeholders across the business, helping manage legal risk while supporting commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
- Provide practical legal advice to management and internal business teams.
- Support commercial disputes, claims and employment-related matters.
- Advise on Australian Consumer Law, privacy, competition law and regulatory compliance.
- Review marketing and consumer-facing materials from a legal perspective.
- Assist with intellectual property, brand protection and insurance matters.
- Manage external legal advisers when specialist support is required.
- Improve legal templates,
processes and workflows using technology and AI.
- Deliver practical legal and compliance training across the business.
About You
- An LLB, JD or equivalent recognised legal qualification.
- Admitted to practise law in Australia with an appropriate practising certificate.
- At least five years' legal experience within consumer goods, FMCG or a related industry.
- Solid commercial contract drafting and negotiation experience.
- Practical knowledge of commercial law, Australian Consumer Law and employment law.
- Confident managing legal matters independently and working with senior stakeholders.
- Commercially minded, solutions-focused and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
- Experience within a regulated consumer goods environment will be highly regarded.
