- NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent)
n
- Chamber of Mines Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control
n
- Preferred additional: o Laboratory AQA certificate o Radiation Protection Monitor certificate o Membership – Mine Ventilation Society of South Africa
n
- Experience of at least 3 years in the Environmental Engineering or Occupational Hygiene environment
n
- Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
n
- Clear security screening record.
n
- Clear credit record.
n
- Valid driver's license (if applicable)

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Legal Compliance
n
- Audit, measure and report compliance to legal requirements, group standards and policies are adhered to.
n
- Provide information, for supervisors to ensure that policies, programmes, standards, codes of practice and procedures are maintained in accordance with legal and Group requirements.
n
- Assist Supervisor with maintenance of relevant statutory plans (Ventilation and mine rescue plan). Compliance measurements
n
- Provide information, for supervisors to measure compliance to Section 11 and 12 of the Mine Health and Safety Act (Occupational Health Risk Assessment and Monitoring).
n
- Assist Supervisor with monitoring and reporting of ventilation and Occupational Hygiene programmes, to ensure they are properly administered.
n
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Emergency preparedness programmes.
n
- Report and advice on Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene matters.
n
- Provide solutions to specific Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene matters (known or identified via trend analysis).
n
- Adhere to ventilation and occupational hygiene policies, procedures and standards.
n




- Sets daily, weekly and monthly ventilation and occupational hygiene targets Reporting structures
n
- Meet time deadlines pertaining to reporting (daily, weekly, monthly and ad-hoc).
n
- Provide information and advice regarding ventilation and occupational hygiene matters related to a specific workplace or section of the business area.
n
- Advises on changes to plans, schedules, procedures and standards to minimize the effect of unexpected or unsafe work practices.
n
- Ensures adherence to legal compliance in terms of required reports.
n
- Valid statistics for ventilation and occupational hygiene are available for a specific workplace or section of the business area
n
- Timeous submission of reports
n
- Occupational related exposure histories are recorded and reported
n
- Management of resources and assets
n
- Assist Supervisor with maintenance of equipment.
n
- Examine and report on condition of ventilation and occupational hygiene equipment and instruments.
n
- Assist with monitoring of quality of equipment and materials supplied to ensure adherence to safety and risk specifications.
n
- Utilize labour efficiency.
n
- Contribute to the achievement of the objectives and targets of the Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene Department and those of the business area Stakeholder Relations
n




- Assist with building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally.
n
- Assist with ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders. Financial Management Cost Savings:
