Lead Field Technician @ Gigafy (Melbourne, VIC)

Gigafy is an Australian wholesale Internet Service Provider delivering fibre networks to apartments, hotels, build-to-rent and other high-density projects. We're looking for a senior telecommunications field tech who can lead installation jobs end-to-end in Melbourne and take some day-to-day load off our Head of Installations.

About the Role

n

This is a hands-on role (you'll still be on the tools doing installations and faults), but you'll also run jobs on site, coordinate subcontractors, resolve site issues, and provide clear progress updates.

What You'll Be Doing

n

Fault finding and rectification across fibre/copper/Cat6

n

Lead installs and upgrades across Melbourne & surrounds (recent build + live environments)

n

Site surveys, scope confirmation, quoting and pre-install checks

n

Coordinate site access, inductions, builders/building managers and other trades

n

Supervise subcontractors and ensure quality, safety, and tidy handovers

n

Basic project coordination: track key dates, blockers, materials, and "as-built" docs/photos

n





About You

n

Strong experience in telco/network installs on construction sites and/or MDUs

n

Confident running jobs independently and leading others on site

n

Solid troubleshooting skills + good documentation habits

n

Clear communicator who stays calm and solutions-focused

n

Happy working in risers, comms rooms, ceilings and active construction environments

n

Requirements

Construction White Card

n

ACMA Open Cabling Registration (or ability to obtain immediately)

n

Working at Heights (or willingness to obtain)

n

Nice to haves

n

Experience commissioning and handing over MDU networks

n

Comfortable with basic project reporting / as-built packs

n
