Quality Assurance Officer – Fresh Chilled Grab-and-Go Food Production

Big Mouth Foods is a fast-growing fresh chilled food manufacturer. Under our Big Crunch brand, we supply high-quality grab-and-go products - including ready-to-eat sushi, onigiri, rice paper rolls, salads, soups and meal options - to retailers and foodservice customers across Australia.

This role would suit an experienced Food Production Quality Assurance Officer who enjoys being on the factory floor, checking that products meet food-safety and quality standards, and helping the team improve processes.

Key responsibilities

- Maintain HACCP, GMP and food-safety standards across the factory.
n
- Monitor production processes to ensure products meet requirements for weight, temperature, labelling and appearance.
n
- Carry out regular quality inspections and internal audits.
n
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
n
- Investigate non-conformances and support corrective actions.
n




- Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality documentation, records and compliance reports.
n
- Help maintain and improve food-safety and quality procedures, forms and checklists.
n
- Support customer audits and food-safety regulatory inspections when required.
n
- Assist with the development and delivery of internal food-safety and quality audit programs.
n
- Induct new staff in food handling and hygiene requirements, and support QA training on the production line.

Skills, qualifications and experience

n

n
- Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, Microbiology or a related field.
n
- Experience in food manufacturing, hospitality or retail food
n
- Understanding of HACCP, GMP and food-safety regulations
n
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
n
- Excellent communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude when working with production teams.
n
- Organised and accurate with documentation, records and data entry.
n
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-care chilled production environment and spending time on your feet.
n
- Current Food Safety or Safe Food Handling Certificate.
