Job Description
Wanted: An Occupational Therapist Who Remembers Why They Became One
n

n
You became an OT to help people.
n To solve problems.
n To help someone become more independent.
n To find practical ways of turning I can't do that into Actually, maybe I can.
n That's the OT we're looking for.
n
Our client is a values-driven organisation looking for an Occupational Therapist who wants to deliver great clinical work while being part of a team that actually supports them to do it.
n
The Role You'll work with participants to understand what matters to them, identify barriers to independence and develop practical strategies that make everyday life easier, safer and more fulfilling.
n
Depending on your experience and caseload, your work may include:
n
n
- Completing functional capacity assessments
n
- Assessing participants' daily living skills and support needs
n
- Developing individualised therapy plans
n
- Assistive technology assessments and recommendations
n
- Home and environmental assessments
n
- Supporting participants to build independence and capacity
n
- Working with families, carers and support teams
n
- Preparing high-quality clinical reports and recommendations

n
- Liaising with Support Coordinators, Plan Managers and other stakeholders
n

n
n
But underneath all of that is something fairly straightforward.
n
You're helping people do more of the things that matter to them.
n
Why You'll Actually Want This OneYou're a Clinician, Not a Billing Machine Yes, there are targets.
n
Every sustainable allied health organisation needs them.
n
But there's a difference between having sensible expectations and having someone stare at your billables every Friday afternoon like they're checking the Lotto numbers.
n
Quality matters here.
n So do outcomes.
n
Multidisciplinary Actually Means Multidisciplinary You'll have the opportunity to work alongside other allied health professionals and support teams rather than operating on your own little clinical island.
n
Share knowledge.
n Ask questions.
n Learn from each other.
n
And develop better outcomes for participants because everyone is actually talking to one another.
n
Your Development Doesn't Stop When You're Hired Whether you're an experienced OT or still developing your clinical confidence, you'll have access to professional support, supervision and development opportunities.
n
Because "professional development" shouldn't mean being emailed a webinar link twice a year.
n
The goal is to help you become a better clinician and build the career you want.
n
Flexibility That Works Both Ways Great clinicians have lives outside work.
n
Family.
n Kids.
n Sport.
n Dogs that apparently need more appointments than humans.
n
Whatever yours looks like, there's room for a conversation about flexible working arrangements and how the role can work for both you and the organisation.
n
Who We're Looking For You'll need:
n
n
- A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
n
- Current registration with AHPRA
n
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
n
- NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one
n
- Working with Children Check where required
n
- Current National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one
n
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
n
- Ability to work independently while still being part of a collaborative team
n
- Good clinical reasoning and documentation skills
n
n
NDIS experience is highly regarded.
n But we're interested in the person behind the CV too.
n
We're looking for an OT who asks questions.
n
Someone who listens before recommending.
n Someone who understands that two people with exactly the same diagnosis can have completely different lives, goals and support needs.
n
What We're Really Looking For Clinical skills can be developed.
n
Systems can be taught.
n Processes can be learned.
n
But empathy, curiosity and genuinely wanting a good outcome for the person sitting across from you are much harder to put into a training manual.
n
We're looking for someone who values:
n
People over numbers.
n Outcomes over shortcuts.
n Collaboration over egos.
n Doing the right thing even when nobody is checking.
n
What This Isn't Let's save everyone a couple of interviews.
n
This isn't the right role if your idea of person-centred practice is changing the participant's name at the top of last week's report.
n
It isn't somewhere you should expect to be left completely unsupported.
n And it isn't a role where the only measure of whether you've had a successful week is the number sitting beside "billable hours."
n
There are expectations.
n There is accountability.
n There is documentation.
n There are reports.
n
We're not pretending those things magically disappear.
n
The difference is that they're there to support good clinical practice, not replace it.
n
Why Change Roles? Maybe you're perfectly happy where you are.
n
Great.
n Don't move just because another job appeared on SEEK.
n
But if you've started wondering whether there's somewhere you could be better supported...
n
Somewhere your values line up a little better...
n Somewhere you can continue developing without feeling like you're permanently racing the clock...
n
Then it's probably worth having a conversation.
n
Sound Like You?
n
You don't need to decide today whether this is your next five-year career move.
n Start with a confidential chat.
n
Tell us what you're looking for.
n Tell us what you're not looking for.
n
And let's work out whether the organisation, the role and you actually fit.
n Because recruitment shouldn't be about convincing someone to take a job.
n
It should be about finding the place where they want to stay.
n Additional information
n
n
- Immediate Start
n
- Great Pay
n
- Professional Development and Career Growth
