As a Technical Glass Estimator, you will be responsible for estimating a diverse range of architectural glass projects, working closely with customers, project managers, designers, production and manufacturing teams. You will need to bring more than general estimating experience. A high level of technical glass knowledge and a strong understanding of glass processing and manufacturing are essential.

Key responsibilities

n

Prepare accurate and detailed estimates for architectural and commercial glass projects.

n

Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, schedules and technical documentation.

n

Determine appropriate glass types, configurations, thicknesses, processing requirements and manufacturing methods.

n

Understand the complete journey from architectural specification → glass processing → production → finished product.

n

Assess project requirements and identify technical, manufacturing and installation considerations that may affect cost.

n

Accurately calculate glass quantities, dimensions, processing requirements, wastage and associated costs.

n

Work with complex shapes, cut-outs, holes, notches, edgework, laminations, double glazing and other specialised glass requirements.

n

Liaise with glass suppliers, processors, production teams and internal stakeholders to ensure estimates are technically achievable.

Review designs and identify potential manufacturing issues before projects enter production.

n

Assist with resolving technical queries and provide practical glass-processing solutions.

About you

n

Extensive architectural glass knowledge.

n

Strong understanding of glass types, specifications, tolerances and applications.

n

In-depth knowledge of glass manufacturing and processing.

n

Strong understanding of how architectural glass is cut, processed, toughened, laminated, insulated and manufactured.

n

Significant experience dealing with glass processing requirements and manufacturing constraints.

n

Ability to assess drawings and designs from both a commercial estimating and manufacturing perspective.

n

Excellent attention to detail and a solid understanding of dimensional accuracy.

n

Proven experience estimating technically complex glass projects.

n

Very strong, hands-on experience with Lisec software, including GPS.Order, GPS.Prod, CADCAM.

n

Extensive experience within an architectural glass manufacturer, glass processor, glazing business or similar environment.
