The Retail Buyer will be responsible for selecting and purchasing goods for resale through the supermarket. The position will manage the end-to-end retail purchasing process, including demand analysis, product selection, supplier evaluation, commercial negotiation, purchase planning and category performance monitoring. This is a procurement-focused position working primarily within the business's back-office and operational areas. The role is separate from routine cashier, customer service, shelf-stacking and day-to-day store management functions.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyse sales, inventory and product performance to identify purchasing needs.
n
- Source and select grocery, household and specialty products.
n
- Build and maintain relationships with local and overseas suppliers.
n
- Obtain quotations and negotiation pricing, terms and promotional support.
n
- Prepare and monitor purchase orders and stock requirements.
n




- Monitor supplier performance, product quality and deliveries.
n
- Analyse stock turnover, margins and slow-moving products.
n

Skills & Experience

n

n
- Certificate IV or higher in Business, Retail, Procurement, Supply Chain or a related field, or relevant industry experience.
n
- Minimum 12 months experience in retail buying, purchasing and procurement.
n
- Experience in product sourcing and supplier negotiation.
n
- Strong numerical, analytical, communication and organisational skills.
n
- Asian supermarket / grocery retail experience highly regarded.
n
- Multilingual communication skills will be highly regarded, particularly, Mandarin, Malay or other Asian languages.
