Horizon Surgical Eye Centre is seeking an experienced and motivated Ophthalmic Technician or Clinical Optometrist to join our team on a casual basis, supporting our ophthalmologist and clinical team on scheduled clinic days.

Located at the John Flynn Private Hospital in Tugun, Horizon Surgical Eye Centre is a specialist ophthalmology practice providing comprehensive eye care, diagnostic testing and treatment in a modern clinical environment.

This position would suit an experienced ophthalmic technician looking for flexible casual work within a professional and busy specialist practice.

About the Role
n
Working closely with our ophthalmologist and clinical team, you will assist with the effective preparation and assessment of patients throughout the clinic.
n
Your responsibilities may include:
n
n
- Undertaking preliminary patient assessments and ophthalmic work-ups
n
- Visual acuity testing
n
- Intraocular pressure measurement
n
- OCT and other ophthalmic imaging
n
- Visual field testing
n
- Biometry and other pre-operative diagnostic testing
n
- Assisting with patient flow and preparing patients for consultation
n
- Maintaining accurate clinical records
n
- Cleaning and preparing ophthalmic equipment between patients
n
- Providing a high standard of patient care and communication
n
- Supporting the ophthalmologist and broader clinical team as required
n
n
About You
n
We are looking for someone who is confident working in a clinical environment and understands the importance of accuracy, efficiency and excellent patient care.
n
Previous experience working in a busy ophthalmology clinic is highly desirable.
n
The successful candidate will ideally have:
n
n
- Previous experience as an ophthalmic technician, ophthalmic assistant or in a similar clinical role
n
- Familiarity with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and testing
n
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow clinical procedures
n
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
n
- A professional and compassionate approach to patient care
n
- The ability to work efficiently in a busy clinic environment
n
- Confidence working both independently and as part of a small clinical team
n
