Distinctive Options is a long-established disability services organisation supporting people with disability to live with greater independence, choice and connection in their communities. We provide a diverse range of services across regional Victoria.

Alongside our disability services, we operate a growing portfolio of social enterprises that provide meaningful paid employment, skills development and employment pathways for people with disability.

We have ambitious plans for this part of our organisation. We want to strengthen the performance and reach of our existing enterprises, explore new markets and opportunities, and develop new ventures that can create sustainable employment into the future.

About the role

We are looking for a commercially minded and entrepreneurial Social Enterprises & Employment Manager to lead the performance, sustainability and growth of our social enterprise and supported employment portfolio.

This is an opportunity to shape and grow a portfolio of purpose-driven businesses.

Our Social Enterprise Supervisors are responsible for running each business day to day. Your focus will be on the bigger picture, how each enterprise is performing, how we improve profitability and viability, where the opportunities for growth are, and what our next ventures could be.

You will work across our existing enterprises to grow customers, markets, products and sales channels, while also identifying new commercial opportunities, partnerships and contracts.

You will use performance and market information to make sound commercial decisions, develop business plans and business cases,



build external relationships and help turn good ideas into viable and sustainable ventures.

Most importantly, commercial success has a explicit purpose: creating more meaningful and sustainable employment opportunities for people with disability.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone with strong commercial judgement, an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to see opportunity and make things happen.

You will ideally bring:

- experience in commercial management, business growth, enterprise development or a similar environment;
- strong financial acumen and an understanding of revenue, costs, margins and business performance;
- demonstrated experience growing a business, product, service or commercial portfolio;
- the ability to identify opportunities and turn viable ideas into practical commercial initiatives;
- experience developing partnerships, contracts, customers or new routes to market;
- experience developing business plans, commercial proposals or business cases;
- strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills; and
- the ability to balance commercial outcomes with a clear social purpose.

Experience in social enterprise, supported employment or disability services would be valuable, but it is not essential. We are equally interested in people with strong commercial or entrepreneurial experience from other sectors who want to apply those skills in a purpose-driven organisation.
