National Emergency Response Manager - Noble Park VIC

ISS First Response is a leading national Transport Emergency Response service provider, currently seeking a Full Time National Emergency Response Manager in Noble Park VIC.
It is NOT a medical responder role.

About the Role:

This is a senior operator role responsible for ensuring ISS First Response is prepared to respond effectively to complex, high-risk and major incidents. You will lead our national team of Emergency Responders, maintain the readiness and capability of our emergency response network and provide specialist operational leadership when incidents require expertise beyond routine incident management co-ordination.

The role covers incidents such as hazardous material and dangerous goods events, fuel and chemical spills, vehicle rollovers, complex recoveries and other significant transport related incidents.

Just as importantly, the role is about what happens before and after an incident. This includes developing people, improving procedures, strengthening our national response network, reviewing incidents and ensuring lessons learned translate into better operational capability.

This role has the full support of our 24/7 Call Centre &Head; Office resources. Our Call Centre facilitates the arrangement of contractor services, regulatory reporting and liaison between the incident site and clients. With an extensive national database of services, ISS First Response is at the forefront of incident management.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead, manage & develop our national team of Emergency Responders

- Provide specialist operational leadership during a highly diverse range of incidents including HAZMAT events, complex recoveries to bulk tanker rollovers

- Assess incident requirements & determine appropriate response strategies, specialist resources & ERC deployment

- Post incidents, manage recovery & remediation projects where required, working with Contractors and other key stakeholders





- Form & develop working relationships with major clients, emergency service agencies and other related authorities

- Promote a positive safety culture and one of continuous improvement.

In this "hands-on" and varied role you will:

- You will have the opportunity to shape how ISS First Response delivers emergency response nationally

- Be the first point of contact for the emergency response, making time critical decision organising ISS Responders and resources as required

- Combine practical emergency response experience with strong leadership & sound operational judgement

- Maintain emergency response equipment & systems to ensure operational readiness

- Support high-risk work through planning & safety advice

- Work closely with the other ISS internal Managers from compliance, administration, client services and the incident management centre.

- Solid communication, organisation & decision-making skills, particularly in time critical emergency situations

- Be a critical thinker. eg find solutions to technical hazards in order to support the ISS field responders

- Ability to build positive working relationships with internal employees, ISS Emergency Responders, contractors, regulatory authorities and external emergency services

- A strong commitment to health, safety, operational readiness & environmental compliance.

Qualifications:

- Relevant tertiary or vocational qualifications in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Emergency Response, Environmental Management, OHS, Project Management or equivalent

- Chain of Responsibility / Fatigue Management knowledge

- HSEQ knowledge.

- Substantial directly relevant industry experience may be considered in place of formal tertiary qualifications
