About the position

The role ensures laboratory and simulation activities are delivered efficiently, safely and in line with relevant Health & Safety and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include preparing, setting up and packing down equipment, coordinating timetabled and ad hoc activities, supporting teaching staff with equipment use, and maintaining laboratory resources and consumables.

The position also provides guidance to staff on laboratory procedures, monitors stock levels, coordinates ordering, and ensures equipment and resources are available to support teaching activities.

A key focus of the role is supervising and rostering laboratory support staff to ensure consistent service delivery and operational coverage. As a central point of contact for staff, the position plays an key role in the smooth and responsive delivery of laboratory services and may also provide support to clinical laboratory activities across the Clinical Schools when required.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

- Degree with subsequent relevant experience to consolidate the theories and principles learned, or extensive experience, leading to either the development of specialist expertise or to the development of broad knowledge in an administrative field, or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated depth or breadth of expertise developed through extensive relevant experience and application.




- Demonstrated ability to gain a conceptual understanding of relevant policies, procedures or systems and interpretation in the application of policy and/or precedent.
- Ability to innovate and take responsibility for outcomes.
- Demonstrated capacity to organise work effectively and efficiently and deliver outputs in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated experience managing the activities of self and/or others including coaching, motivation and performance management.

This role supports the undergraduate laboratory practical classes and therefore the successful applicant will need to be available to work 7 hrs 15 mins, between the hours of 7.30am and 7.30pm. This will be rostered on a rotational basis.
