Northern NSW Local Health District is seeking Locum Surgical Doctors from RMO through to Consultant level to provide cover across a range of surgical specialties.

This is an excellent opportunity for junior doctors wanting to build valuable surgical experience, as well as senior doctors and consultants seeking leadership-level locum work in a supportive regional environment.

Roles are available across general surgery, orthopaedics and acute surgical care, with flexible options depending on your level, experience and availability.

Clinical Environment

You will provide surgical cover within Northern NSW LHD across a range of regional hospital settings.

- Broad surgical exposure – work across general surgery, orthopaedics and acute surgical care
- Multiple levels considered – suitable for RMO, SRMO, Registrar, CMO and Consultant-level doctors
- Hands-on experience – support ward care, acute reviews, theatre requirements and surgical presentations
- Supportive teams – work with well-structured surgical teams, nursing staff and senior oversight
- Lifestyle-focused locums – combine rewarding clinical work with relaxed coastal living

Patient Demographic

You will support a broad surgical patient mix, including adults, older patients, acute surgical presentations, trauma and orthopaedic patients, ward-based surgical patients, post-operative patients and people requiring assessment, management planning, escalation or ongoing surgical care.

Key Duties

Duties will vary depending on your level and specialty, but may include:

- Provide surgical cover across rostered shifts
- Review and manage surgical patients within scope
- Support ward-based care, acute reviews and patient flow
- Assist with theatre, procedural or on-call requirements as appropriate
- Complete clinical documentation,



handover and management plans
- Escalate patient concerns appropriately and work collaboratively with surgical teams

Requirements

- Current AHPRA General or Specialist Registration
- Minimum PGY2+ with recent surgical experience
- ALS certification preferred
- Australian working rights
- Ability to work safely within scope and escalate appropriately
- Current CV, references and compliance documents as required
