Western NSW Local Health District is seeking skilled Locum GP VMOs with Emergency Medicine experience to provide cover across regional hospitals and multipurpose health services.

This role is ideal for rural generalists who thrive in hands-on, high-autonomy environments and enjoy the variety of regional Emergency Medicine.

You will manage a broad range of emergency and acute presentations, supported by experienced nursing staff, retrieval teams and visiting specialist networks.

Clinical Environment

You will provide GP VMO ED cover across regional and rural health settings within Western NSW LHD.

- Broad scope of practice – support care across primary care, trauma, acute medicine and critical care presentations
- Strong support networks – collaborate with local nursing teams, retrieval services and visiting specialists

- Fully supported placements – travel, accommodation and hire car included for locum bookings

Patient Demographic

You will support a broad regional and rural patient mix, including adults, older patients, families, acute medical presentations, trauma, primary care presentations, critically unwell patients and people requiring assessment, stabilisation, escalation, retrieval or ongoing care.

Key Duties

- Provide GP VMO ED cover across rostered shifts
- Assess and manage emergency and acute presentations
- Support primary care, trauma and critical care presentations within scope
- Complete clinical documentation, handover and management plans




- Escalate care appropriately to retrieval or specialist teams when required
- Work collaboratively with nursing, allied health, retrieval and hospital teams

Requirements

- Current AHPRA Specialist Registration
- Proven experience managing emergency presentations
- Recent rural, regional or GP VMO ED experience preferred
- NSW Working with Children Check and Police Check
- Australian working rights
- Current CV, references and compliance documents as required
