This is an exciting opportunity to join Queensland's peak body for the community services sector in a role that sits within the engine room of the organisation and works in partnership with the Communications Team and in connection with all other business units.

About the role
The Manager Membership and Major Events is responsible for growing QCOSS' membership base, strengthening member retention and leading the delivery of QCOSS' flagship events.
The role is accountable for developing and implementing strategies that increase membership value, grow participation in QCOSS events, expand sponsorship and partnership opportunities, and enhance engagement with the community services sector. It works with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities, coordinate activity and ensure membership and event initiatives are well promoted, consistently branded and aligned with QCOSS' voice and strategic priorities.
The position leads the planning and delivery of QCOSS' major events, including the Queensland Community Impact Awards, QCOSS Conference and Budget Breakfast, and works collaboratively across Operations, Communications and other teams to ensure events, membership growth and engagement activities contribute to QCOSS' strategic objectives.
About you
You are a highly skilled membership, events and stakeholder engagement professional who combines strategic thinking with strong delivery capability,
commercial acumen and a commitment to building meaningful relationships across the community services sector.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, marketing, communications, event management or a related discipline, with substantial relevant experience (at least five years) in membership growth, stakeholder engagement, major events, partnership management or similar fields.
- Exceptional organisational skills, demonstrated ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and professional judgement, and experience translating organisational objectives into high-quality membership, events and engagement activities with measurable outcomes.
- Experience producing complex, high-profile events, including leading end-to-end design, planning, budgeting, risk management, delivery and evaluation, and managing concurrent priorities, venues and suppliers.
- Demonstrated success in growing and retaining membership or customer base, analysing data and trends, developing value propositions and initiatives, and converting engagement opportunities into growth.
- Highly developed relationship management skills, with demonstrated ability to build productive relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including members and potential members, sponsors, partners, colleagues and community sector organisations.
- Proven ability to work effectively across internal and external stakeholders, influence outcomes without formal authority, and lead cross-functional project teams where team members are not direct reports.
- High-level written, verbal and analytical skills, including the ability to prepare compelling business cases, sponsorship proposals, project plans, budgets, risk management plans, reports and executive briefings, and to work effectively with communications colleagues on event and member-facing content.
- Advanced capability with Microsoft 365, CRMs (preferably Dynamics 365), event platforms and reporting tools, with the ability to maintain accurate records, monitor performance metrics and use evidence to support continuous improvement.
- Commitment to social justice, QCOSS values and the role of the community services sector in supporting vulnerable Queenslanders.

- Full-time (38 hours per week) permanent position
- Salary: QCOSS/QSU Certified Agreement Level 7 – $129,734 to $135,159 per annum dependent on experience
- 13 per cent superannuation and salary packaging
- Flexible working arrangements including work from home, flex time and time off in lieu
