All new staff complete a three-month training and onboarding period in the office. This ensures they receive the right support, build relationships, and develop a strong understanding of VACCHO’s systems and ways of working.

Following this period, staff may request for working from home to be considered for up to two days per week for full-time staff and scaled back for 0.8 FTE and 0.6 FTE staff. This hybrid model allows us to stay collaborative and connected while also supporting our team to enjoy the benefits of flexibility and work–life balance.

Salary: $140,000 per annum (plus super)

About VACCHO

VACCHO is the peak representative for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria.

We have 35 member Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations providing support to over 78,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the state. We lead and support Aboriginal Community Control and the broader health and social services sector to deliver transformative health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal communities in Victoria. About the role

The Director, Sector Development is a key role within the Population Health Unit, providing high level direction across teams and priority projects, with an overall focus on developing and expanding capability and capacity within the ACCO sector in Victoria. These include:

- Public Health and Partnerships
- Workforce Development
- Aboriginal Aged Care
- VACCHO’s Culture and Kinship Projects





Reporting to the Executive Director Population Health, the Director provides strategic leadership to their teams, driving performance to achieve agreed objectives, in alignment with annual cycles of monitoring and impact reporting. The Director is responsible for coaching and supporting the development of managers and staff within their remit and ensuring that teams develop and sustain the capability to meet strategic objectives.

Essential skills/experiences

To be successful in this role, you will need a demonstrated experience as a Director, Sector Development. You will have sound judgement, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and robust communication skills, with willingness to take the initiative.

- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply as your cultural and lived experiences are central to the work we do.
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience in a related role or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating strategies in workforce development, health and wellbeing, or advocacy.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and coach emerging leaders and teams, and foster the growth of high performing teams.
- Diversity of experience in, and understanding of, the reform roadmaps in health and social services, including healthcare, aged care and/or disability.
- Demonstrated proficiency and experience using Microsoft applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project Management)



combined with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
