The Opportunity

As we continue to grow, we’re seeking an experienced and motivated Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in our ongoing success and contribute to AJL’s reputation for quality service, reliability, and technical excellence.

As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic with AJL Heavy Equipment, you’ll have the opportunity to join our Melbourne team at either of our established branches; Truganina or Port Melbourne, depending on your skills and interests.

- Truganina Branch: Focused on highway trucks and transport equipment, this branch offers hands-on work with diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance of heavy vehicles and diesel engines.

- Port Melbourne Branch: Specialising in container-handling equipment and port-based machinery, this site provides variety and technical challenge in a dynamic stevedoring environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on diesel engines, heavy commercial vehicles, and equipment

- Implement and uphold workshop protocols relating to safety,



efficiency, and quality standards

- Carry out diagnostics and troubleshooting with precision and attention to detail

- Mentor junior mechanics and contribute to a supportive, high-performing team culture

- Collaborate with the Workshop Manager to ensure smooth daily operations

- Stay up to date with industry developments and apply best practices

About You

- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent

- Strong diagnostic and repair capabilities with solid knowledge of diesel and electronic systems

- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills

- Safety-focused, proactive, and eager to grow with a agile team

- Current driver’s licence and reliable transport

- HR licence desirable, but not essential

- Own toolkit
