About the role

A Private Higher Education Institute is seeking an experienced academic to join the teaching team for the Master of Engineering Management. Appointment level (Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor) will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications, industry seniority and academic experience. The Master of Engineering Management prepares graduates to lead engineering functions, projects and portfolios in complex organisational and global settings. The course pairs a core of engineering project-management practice, spanning initiation, planning, execution and closure, with the business, financial, communication and people-leadership capabilities engineering managers require, and culminates in an applied Business Research Project or an industry Work Integrated Learning placement.

Key responsibilities

- Design, deliver and assess postgraduate units across the engineering management curriculum, using contemporary, industry-relevant teaching practice

- Supervise and assess student Business Research Projects and/or Work Integrated Learning placements

- Contribute to curriculum review, unit and course-level continuous improvement, and course committee activity

- Support program accreditation and compliance activity, including mapping curriculum to the Engineers Australia Stage 2 Competency Standard and AQF Level 9 requirements

- Engage with industry, professional bodies and prospective employers to keep the curriculum current and to support student placement and employment outcomes

- Mentor sessional and early-career teaching staff (Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor levels)

- Provide discipline leadership and strategic input to the program's ongoing development (Associate Professor level)

About you

- A doctoral qualification in engineering, engineering management, project/program management, business or a related discipline,



or equivalent professional standing gained through substantial senior industry experience

- Demonstrated professional experience in an engineering management, project management, program/portfolio management or related leadership capacity

- Demonstrated ability, or clear capability, to teach, assess and support postgraduate students in a higher education setting

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and managerial audiences

- A commitment to work-integrated learning, applied research and industry engagement

- Eligibility to work in Australia and to meet the inherent requirements of an academic teaching role

- Desirable: Membership of a recognised qualified body

- Desirable: A formal higher education teaching qualification (e.g., Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, HEA Fellowship)

- Desirable: Experience teaching or assessing within an AQF Level 9 program, or contributing to program accreditation and compliance

- Desirable: Experience supervising applied research projects or industry-based placements
