Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the day-to-day organisation of the nursery area is carried out under the guidance of the Manager.
2. Complete all daily morning routines and end of day procedures.
3. Stock in the nursery must be appropriately cared for i.e. watered if required and put in an appropriate place to avoid damage.
4. Daily cleaning of walkways and garden beds
5. Maintenance of garden beds to be free of weeds and pests.
6. Attend regular formal theory training for the completion of the Apprenticeship.
7. You are responsible for all equipment used in your area, such as hoses, watering wands, brooms, rakes, dust pans, blowers and secateurs. All equipment should be treated with care and returned to appropriate area at the end of shift. You must report any concerns or issues to your Manager.
8. You may be requested operate cash registers adhering to all cash handling procedures.
Formal training:
- Qualification: Certificate III Nursery Operations (Retail Nursery)
- Course Duration: 4.5 years
- Training Provider: Richmond TAFE
- 3 hours of online training per week conducted by TAFE
- Attendance at Richmond TAFE 3-4 days per year for practical training
- Training is fee free (no cost to you)
Candidate requirements:
- Suitable for a recent school leaver
- Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Have a positive, can-do attitude
- Like working outdoors in all elements
- No experience necessary but passion for plants is essential
