Australian Office of Parliamentary Counsel – Canberra ACT

This position is part of the Corporate Services group, supporting OPC’s governance framework, including risk management, data and information management, performance oversight, protective security and organisational resilience.This is a senior team member position which will provide support acrossfunctions and work closely with senior staff.

The key duties of the position include:

(a)Provide leadership in governance, oversight and compliance with legislative and policy requirements.

(b)Provide secretariat support to internal committees and input into internal OPC reporting.

(c)Coordination of OPC’s responses to whole-of-government reporting requirements.

(d)Monitor, review and maintain OPC’s governance-related policies in accordance with the review cycle.

(e)Support OPC’s information and records management, protective security, organisational resilience and risk management activities, including maintenance of OPC’s enterprise level risk register.

(f)Other duties required to support the team.

including the ability to exercise sound judgement, adapt to changing priorities, and work effectively with minimal supervision.

(g)Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare transparent briefs, reports, policies, procedures and governance documentation for diverse audiences.

The following job specific criteria are also highly desirable:

(a)Knowledge of, or experience working within governance frameworks, including one or more of risk management, protective security, fraud and corruption control, privacy, business continuity, records management, audit and assurance, or compliance functions.

(b)General knowledge of relevant Australian Government legislation, policies and frameworks, such as the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act), Commonwealth Risk Management Policy, Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), and related governance obligations.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the role, you must:

•be an Australian Citizen;

•be able to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1 status.
