About the Role

Help shape safer, higher-quality outcomes for children through meaningful regulatory work. Multiple opportunities are available for highly motivated individuals with strong attention to detail and a passion for meaningful work to join VECRA as an Early Childhood Authorised Officer. In this role, you will contribute to the regulation of Victoria's early childhood education and care sector through assessment and rating visits, compliance and inspection activities, investigations and stakeholder engagement. No two days are the same, with work ranging from visits to early childhood services and assessment and rating activities to investigations, report writing and regulatory decision-making. While the role involves exercising regulatory powers, it also provides opportunities to support services in understanding and meeting their legislative obligations. Early Childhood Authorised Officer - Coburg Melbourne - Northern Metro, VIC, AU

Key accountabilities

- supporting and undertaking investigations following notifications of incidents or complaints and, where necessary, gathering and assessing evidence to inform regulatory action
- applying a range of regulatory tools to promote compliance and continuous quality improvement
- monitoring and reporting on approved education and care services' compliance with the National Quality Framework and Child Safe Standards
- undertaking assessment and rating visits against the National Quality Standard
- managing information and records relating to service quality and regulatory matters
- preparing high-quality correspondence, briefings and reports
- communicating legislative and regulatory requirements to approved and licensed services
- contributing to the consistent application of regulatory frameworks, systems and processes

Qualifications and Experience (Desirable)

Relevant qualifications in investigations, early childhood education, teaching, or other human welfare studies, behavioural studies or similar.

Essential

Successful applicants will be required to hold a valid Victorian Working with Children Check and Victorian driver's licence.

Preferred applicants

Preferred applicants may be required to complete a police check and may be subject to other pre-employment checks.
