The Team & Role

The primary role of the Health Promotion Officer (HPO) is to plan, implement and deliver health promotion and prevention activities as outlined in the four-year Strategic Plan and annual action plans, to improve the health and wellbeing of the community and prevent disease.

Health Promotion Officers will work as a Bayside Health Regional Care Group team in partnership with South Gippsland Hospital.





This position will primarily be based at Kooweerup Hospital but will require travel to other sites as required.

Skills & Experience Required

- Tertiary qualification – Bachelor of Science (Health Promotion), Bachelor of Public Health Promotion, Bachelor of Public Health and Health Promotion, Bachelor of Health Science (Health Promotion), any other undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in health promotion, or any other undergraduate or postgraduate qualification relevant to the field of Health Promotion.
- Demonstrated ability to translate health promotion priorities and principles into practical health promotion/prevention activities.
- Proven skills and experience in planning and implementing multi-strategy health promotion/prevention interventions in partnership with key stakeholders.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of health promotion/prevention theory and practice with a specific focus on the underlying social determinants of health.
- Demonstrated project planning and implementation skills




- Ability to measure the outcomes of health promotion/prevention activities and adapt future programs dependent on findings.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Ability to engage key stakeholders, consumers and services
- A Police Check that is current and with 12 months of the date of issue
- Working with Children Check
- Vaccinations in accordance with the Chief Health Mandatory Vaccination Directions
- Well-developed project management and computer literacy skills.
