Field Service Technician – Heavy Plant & Marine Equipment
Base Location: Whitebay, NSW
Start: ASAP
Hours: 6:30am start | 10‑hour days | 5–6 days per week
Travel: Extensive national travel required (accommodation + $80/day meal allowance provided)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join a well‑established contractor delivering major marine and civil infrastructure projects across Australia.

This is a long‑term opportunity offering excellent pay, consistent work, and exposure to a wide variety of heavy plant and marine equipment.

With current and upcoming projects in Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns, Perth, and regional Australia, this role suits a technician who enjoys variety, autonomy, and working on high‑profile projects nationwide.

Equipment You’ll Be Working On

You will service, maintain and repair a diverse fleet including:

- Cranes (Franna and up to 60t rough terrain)

- Crawler cranes (40–380t)

- Excavators

- Telehandlers, forklifts, bobcats

- Hydraulic power packs

- Diesel electric generators

- Hydraulic impact hammers

- Barges with pedestal cranes

- Drill rigs (hydraulic & pneumatic)

- EWPs, compressors

- Trailer‑mounted diesel concrete pumps

You must be confident across diesel engines, hydraulics, electrics, diagnostics and mechanical repairs.

Key Responsibilities





- Service, maintain and repair heavy plant and marine equipment

- Perform field service and breakdown repairs across Australia

- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults

- Work closely with the Sydney‑based Maintenance Manager

- Load and unload equipment using cranes (including occasional 100t crane work)

- Ensure strict compliance with safety and site requirements

- Work independently and take ownership of tasks

- Assist with shutdowns and major project mobilisations

Pay Rates (Based on Experience)

- $58/hr – Normal Time

- $73/hr – OT1

- $102/hr – OT2

or

- $66/hr – ABN

Requirements

- Diesel Fitter trade certificate (or equivalent heavy mechanical qualification)

- Robust experience with heavy plant and machinery

- Ability to work autonomously and problem‑solve

- White Card

- Open car licence

- Forklift ticket

- Own tools

- Willingness to travel extensively and work away

- Strong work ethic and commitment to long‑term employment
