Social Work Field Education Liaison Officer

The Field Education Liaison Officer (FELO) plays a critical role in supporting the delivery, quality, and compliance of the Social Work Field Education Program within the School of Social Work, Human Services and Allied Health.

Reporting to the Head of School/Deputy Head of School and working under the guidance of the Field Education Coordinator, the FELO is responsible for developing and maintaining placement partnerships, coordinating and monitoring student placements, contributing to teaching and assessment of field education units, providing student support and clinical supervision, and ensuring compliance with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) accreditation requirements and relevant regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

- Develop and maintain placement partnerships with social work and community organisations
- Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate student placements, including site visits
- Contribute to teaching, assessment, and continuous improvement of field education units
- Provide supervision, mentoring, and support to students during placement
- Ensure compliance with AASW standards, accreditation requirements, and quality assurance processes
- Maintain accurate records, reports, policies, and field education documentation
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, industry partners, and stakeholders
- Contribute to school, institutional, and community engagement activities
- Provide clinical supervision including individual or group supervision, reviewing supervision records, and providing formative assessment
- Provide pastoral care and counsel students doing field education and respond to issues and concerns raised by students and staff

- Qualification in Social Work and eligibility for AASW membership.
- Experience in social work practice,



field education, or student placement coordination.
- Knowledge of AASW accreditation and field education requirements.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership development.
- Strong communication, organisational, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to provide student support, supervision, and mentoring.
- Commitment to quality, compliance, diversity, inclusion, and student wellbeing.
- Eligibility for AASW Mental Health Accreditation or experience providing clinical supervision.
- Experience teaching social work or field education units in higher education.
- Experience with course accreditation, compliance, and quality assurance activities.
- Familiarity with Moodle or similar Learning Management Systems.
- Established professional networks within the social work or community services sector.
