Il Duca pty ltd is seeking a talented Chef / Apprentice to join our kitchen team in East Melbourne. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills in a professional hospitality environment. Whether you are beginning your culinary journey or looking to advance your existing experience, this role will provide you with hands-on training and mentorship from experienced chefs. You will be based at our East Melbourne location and will be integral to delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.

What you'll be doing

Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and quality standards

Assisting senior chefs with food preparation, plating, and presentation

Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including proper storage and handling of ingredients

Following food safety and hygiene protocols at all times

Learning and developing culinary techniques under the guidance of experienced kitchen staff

Contributing to inventory management and reporting on stock levels as required

Working collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction

Adhering to company policies and health and safety regulations

What we’re looking for

A passion for cooking and genuine enthusiasm for the hospitality industry

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation





Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment

Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with team members

Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of kitchen work

Willingness to learn and develop new culinary skills

Relevant hospitality or culinary qualifications or previous kitchen experience is advantageous but not essential

Food Safety Supervisor certification or willingness to obtain it is preferred
