IMMA - Independent Multicultural Media Australia

Melbourne

Independent Multicultural Media Australia Ltd (IMMA) is the national peak body representing more than 60 independent multicultural media outlets across Australia. We advocate for equity in government and agency advertising, support training and digital transformation, and give multicultural media a strong collective voice.

Our members are the media. They are the publishers, broadcasters and digital outlets reaching audiences in language and in community every day in Australia, and they are the reason IMMA exists.

The Role

The Member Services Manager is IMMA's single point of contact for member outlets, and the person responsible for building what our members are able to do.

This is a member-facing job. You will maintain relationships across the membership, learn each outlet's business, and be the person members hear from regularly and can depend on. Communication is a key part of it: keeping members informed, briefed and connected to what IMMA is doing on their behalf.

The other half is development. Our members range from substantial digital businesses to family run outlets that have served the same community for decades, and they need different things from us. You will identify where members need support, organise practical training, build the guidance and templates, and work with each outlet on a plan to get them where they need to be. Some members are already there. Many are not, and moving them along that pathway is the central measure of success in your first year.

You will also support the success of our advertising booking platform, Multicultural Media Direct (MMD). This includes overseeing campaign delivery once a booking is confirmed, working through MMD's operations team.

This role reports to the General Manager.

What You Will Do

Member relationships

- Be the primary point of contact for IMMA's member outlets

- Build a real working knowledge of each member’s media offering: audiences, formats, rates, specifications, production requirements and commercial practice
- Understand what members need from IMMA, and bring that back into how IMMA operates
- Be the person members call, and the person who calls them before there is a problem

Member communications

- Keep members informed about what IMMA is doing, what opportunities are coming and what is expected of them
- Write and issue member updates, briefing notes, chance notices and practical guidance
- Run member briefings and check-ins, one-to-one and in groups
- Make sure information moves both ways, so members hear from IMMA early and IMMA hears from members early
- Maintain accurate member records and contact details

Training, development and capability building

- Identify where members need support
- Design ongoing or periodic training around member needs
- Build guidance, templates and standards members can use
- Work with each member on a development plan: what needs to be in place, who is doing it and by when

Onboarding

- Onboard members onto IMMA's booking platform MMD and keep rates, inventory and specifications current
- Maintain a clear view of which members are ready to be represented, and what stands in the way of their onboarding
- Track readiness and capability across the membership and report on progress
- Oversee delivery of advertising campaigns once a booking is confirmed,

directing IMMA's operations team on sequencing, creative distribution, tracking and reporting

Contributing to IMMA

- You will help provid member intelligence into IMMA for its advocacy and work with the General Manager on member outcomes and development priorities

About You

Around 3 to 5 years in media, advertising, communications, member services or a training and capability role. That might be account or client management, media planning or buying, advertising operations, or working inside a media outlet or a member-based organisation.

You will be a genuine relationship builder who can earn trust with anyone, from a family run radio station through to a media buyer. You will be a confident written communicator, confident of producing updates, briefings and guidance, while also being comfortable explaining things and running a session. You will be adept with technology and patient teaching them to people who find them difficult. Strong attention to detail is essential, and material specifications, records, deadlines and reporting are right because you checked.

You will be able to build processes rather than waiting for one; you will be seen as reliable and dependable. Interest in multicultural media, and respect for how these businesses operate and in-language capability or lived experience in multicultural communities is highly regarded.

Why Join IMMA

Ownership - You hold the member relationship across the whole membership, not a slice of it.

Substance - Building member capability is the work that decides whether IMMA succeeds.

Reach -More than 60 outlets (and growing) across print, radio and digital, in communities around the country.

Influence - A small national team with a direct line to leadership, and real say in how things get done.
