The School

Holy Family Catholic Primary School is a diverse, inclusive, learning community committed to the gospel values of mercy, respect and courage. Situated in the northern suburbs of Darwin, the school caters for students in Transition to Year 6, including an Early Learning Centre and Outside of School Hours Care program. The Position

The Deputy Principal is a senior leadership position within a Catholic school. The role requires a person of faith and vision for Catholic education who models Catholic values and is able to communicate this vision clearly within the school community.

Working closely with the Principal, the Deputy Principal provides leadership to ensure the effective operation of all aspects of school life, supporting curriculum implementation, staff development, pastoral care and positive community relationships.

Instructional Leadership & Curriculum Innovation

- Lead and drive the primary school curriculum, using data-driven evidence to track and identify learning gaps and improve student outcomes.
- Lead high-quality teaching and learning, supporting staff development in high-impact teaching strategies,



student engagement, targeted instruction and evidence-informed practice.
- Maintain agility to step into targeted teaching duties or classroom relief as operational needs arise.

Well-Being And Inclusive Practices

- Create a safe, supportive and positive environment that caters to diverse student needs.
- Lead positive school-wide behaviours, ensuring the school values of mercy, respect and courage are evident in daily life so students feel safe, valued and listened to.
- Support staff in further embedding routines for learning across all areas of school life.
- Apply a solid understanding of trauma-informed practice and inclusive education for students with additional needs.

Community Engagement And Interpersonal Skills

- Be a highly visible and approachable leader, building strong, respectful partnerships with students, staff, families, parish and the wider community.
- Demonstrate outstanding communication skills, engaging effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and maintaining positive relationships.

Essential Criteria

- Be a Catholic and an active member of a Catholic Eucharistic community.
- (or, where circumstances warrant, a person of faith committed to Catholic values and participation in Catholic worship).
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission and values of the Church.
- Hold postgraduate qualifications, or be willing to commence studies, in Religious Education, Theology and/or Educational Leadership.
- Be registered or eligible for registration with the NT Teacher Registration Board.
- Hold, or be eligible to obtain, a current NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
- Demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills appropriate to a senior school leadership role.
- Be required to provide details of three referees, one of which must be your Parish Priest or Pastor.
