Head of STEM – Clayfield College

Applications are warmly invited for the position of Head of STEM at Clayfield College. This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished educational leader to join a leading independent school and make a meaningful contribution to STEM education and student outcomes across Years 7–12.

As a member of the Teaching and Learning Leadership Team, the Head of STEM will provide leadership and coordination of resources within the STEM Department, ensuring excellence in the delivery of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics syllabus.

About the Role

Reporting to the Deputy Principal, key responsibilities will include:

- Overseeing the implementation and delivery of the STEM program across Years 7–12, including Year 11 and 12 Courses of Study for QCAA.
- Ensuring curriculum planning, assessment and reporting comply with the Australian Curriculum and QCAA expectations.
- Leading and developing the STEM Department team, including the Coordinators and STEM teachers.
- Leading the development and implementation of strategic improvement plans and long-term goal setting for the STEM Department.
- Coordinating internal standardisation procedures to ensure consistency of assessment.
- Managing departmental facilities, resources and budget in line with College guidelines.
- Overseeing excursions and special arrangements undertaken by the STEM Department.




- Working collaboratively with the Junior School Leadership Team to ensure continuity of the STEM program from Pre-Prep to Year 12.

About You

The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher and collaborative leader with a genuine passion for STEM education and student development.

You will bring:

- Queensland teacher registration and relevant teaching qualifications and experience.
- Leadership or management experience in a similar role.
- A high level of skilled knowledge of current curriculum documents, including the Australian Curriculum and relevant QCAA syllabuses.
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organisational and administration skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and achieving exceptional outcomes.
- Initiative, flexibility and the ability to contribute strategically as a member of the Teaching and Learning Leadership Team.
