Encompassing disciplines including Nursing, Social Work and Physiotherapy, the School works closely with health services, research institutes, governments, industry and communities to improve health and wellbeing in Australia and internationally.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an influential senior leadership opportunity to help shape the organisational performance and long-term success of the Melbourne School of Health Sciences.

As a member of the School Executive Leadership Team, the School Manager will provide executive leadership across the School’s business, operational and professional services functions. Reporting to the Director, School Business Operations and working closely with the Head of School, you will translate strategic priorities into effective plans, sustainable operating models and measurable outcomes.

You will be a trusted strategic partner to academic and professional leaders, ensuring the School’s people, resources and services are aligned to support excellence in education, research,



clinical placements and community engagement. This will include leading professional services, overseeing financial and workforce planning, strengthening operational performance and guiding the School through organisational change.

Operating within a complex and highly interconnected environment, you will balance the School’s priorities with broader Faculty and University objectives. You will also strengthen relationships with health services, research institutes, professional bodies and other external partners, while contributing to leadership and continuous improvement across the Faculty.

This is a continuing, full-time appointment at Senior Manager 1 level. An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated, including 17% employer superannuation.

ABOUT YOU

You will be an accomplished business, operational or professional services leader who can bring strategic perspective, sound judgement and a strong service orientation to a complex, knowledge-intensive environment.

You will demonstrate:

- Extensive experience leading operational, business or professional services functions within a large and complex organisation




- A strong record of partnering with senior leaders to translate strategy into practical and sustainable operational outcomes
- Proven people leadership capability, including building accountable, cooperative and high-performing service cultures
- Experience leading organisational change through effective planning, communication, stakeholder engagement and risk management
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, with experience managing complex budgets, workforce planning and organisational resources
- Highly developed influencing, negotiation and relationship-building skills across diverse stakeholder groups
- The ability to analyse complex information and provide clear, evidence-based advice to senior decision-makers
- Experience improving operating models, processes and services to enhance organisational effectiveness and customer experience
- A sound understanding of governance, compliance, policy and risk within a complex organisational setting
- Resilience, adaptability and the ability to navigate ambiguity while creating clarity and accountability for others

Experience within higher education, research, government, health or another complex knowledge-intensive sector will be highly regarded. An understanding of university teaching, research and engagement environments would also be advantageous.
