Who are we looking for?
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for supporting the delivery of new store developments, refurbishments, relocations and capital works projects across the retail network.
The role provides project management support throughout the project lifecycle, including planning, procurement, design coordination, contractor management, construction delivery, defect management and project close-out. Reporting to the Head of Design and Construction and working closely with internal stakeholders, landlords, consultants, contractors and operational teams, the Assistant Project Manager helps ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget and in accordance with operational, design and brand standards.
This role offers an chance to develop project management capability through exposure to all phases of retail construction and development projects.
The Assistant Project Manager will:
- Support the successful delivery of retail development projects.
- Assist in managing project timelines,
budgets and stakeholder expectations.
- Coordinate project activities across the development team.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the development and construction team.
- Support the maintenance of quality, safety and compliance standards across all projects.
The Assistant Retail Project Manager may:
- Recommend contractor and supplier selections.
- Approve project-related activities within delegated authority limits.
- Escalate commercial, program or compliance risks where required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience in retail, hospitality or commercial construction projects.
Understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
Ability to interpret architectural and construction drawings.
Strong organisational and coordination skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience within retail, QSR or multi-site environments.
Exposure to landlord approvals and tenancy delivery.
Understanding of construction contracts and procurement processes.
Experience using project management software platforms.
