Heavy Vehicle Driver Trainer and Assessor - MC

Help build safer, more capable heavy-vehicle teams

Russell Transport is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Driver Trainer and Assessor to support the onboarding, assessment and ongoing development of our transport teams across South‑East Queensland.

This permanent role combines practical heavy-vehicle coaching, operator assessments, load‑restraint expertise and safety leadership. You will have the opportunity to influence training culture across a long‑established, family owned transport business.

Nominal hours of work 5:30am to 2:30pm – Monday to Friday

About the role

You will work closely with operational leaders, new starters, existing operators and buddy mentors to maintain consistent training and compliance standards.

Key responsibilities include:

- Assisting and facilitating onboarding training for new employees
- Conduct operator assessments, VOCs and post‑incident training
- Provide practical and theory‑based load restraint training
- Complete on‑site and off‑site load restraint audits
- Attend toolbox talks and help deliver work instructions and safety alerts
- Support incident and accident investigations when required
- Review work instructions, SWMS, procedures and risk assessments
- Promote secure‑act observations and positive safety behaviours




- Maintain accurate training and compliance records
- Work with leaders and buddy mentors to improve training processes

About you

- You will be a confident heavy vehicle professional who can coach, assess and communicate effectively with people at different levels of experience
- MC heavy vehicle licence
- Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driving Training – Heavy Vehicle (TLI41222) or a recognised equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in heavy vehicle operations and driver training
- Strong understanding of load restraint, WHS and risk management
- Confidence conducting operator assessments and providing constructive feedback
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with drivers, supervisors and management
- Computer literacy across Outlook, Word, Powerpoint and Excel
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
- HRW Licence – LF / CV and/or WP
- Experience using handheld technology and digital training or compliance systems
- Experience supporting incident investigations, audits or compliance reviews
