About the role

We are seeking a full-time Medical Technician or Scientist to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our medical administration and laboratory operations, supporting the delivery of accurate diagnostic pathology services. This is a hands-on position where you will contribute directly to patient care through meticulous laboratory work and support services. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Mount Waverley VIC 3149.

What you'll be doing

Processing and handling pathology specimens with precision and care, following quality control procedures

Performing routine laboratory tests and analyses in accordance with established protocols and quality standards

Maintaining accurate records of specimens, test results, and laboratory data

Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality

Preparing specimens and materials for analysis by qualified pathologists

Adhering to health and safety regulations, including biosafety and infection control protocols





Contributing to the efficient workflow within the laboratory setting

Supporting senior laboratory staff and collaborating with colleagues to ensure timely and accurate results

Maintaining a clean, organized and safe working environment

Assisting with administrative tasks related to laboratory operations as required

What we're looking for

A qualification as a Medical Technician, Medical Scientist, or equivalent recognized laboratory qualification

Minimum professional working experience of 2 years in a Histopathologist laboratory.

Demonstrable experience working in a Histology laboratory, performing embedding, microtomy and cutup (transfer and non-complex).

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all laboratory work

Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and computer systems for data management

Excellent organisational and time management skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Professional communication skills and a patient-focused approach

Willingness to continue professional development and stay current with laboratory practices
